  General Notes:

Egerton Corfield was educated at St Catherine's College, Cambridge where he was admitted 2nd October 1880. He gained his BA in 1884 and MA in 1888. In 1885 he was ordained a deacon and then went to India as a member of the Church Missionary Society (CMS). Once in India, Egerton became became the Principal of the CMS School at Batala, Punjab, 1885 to 1900 and was ordained a priest in Lahore in 1887.
The school near Amritsar, was for the sons of Indian christians and was established in an old shooting lodge which had belonged to the Sikh Maharaja Ranjit Singh.
After leaving India in early 1900, Egerton returned to Derbyshire and was the Organising Secretary of the CMS in the Ely Diocese until 1912 and became Chaplain ofSt. Philip's Cambridge 1903-1912.
In 1912 he was appointed Rector of Finchampstead, Berkshire. He remained Rector until his death.

Egerton married Ethel Grace ANSON, daughter of Thomas Anchitel ANSON and Unknown, on 30 Sep 1885. (Ethel Grace ANSON was born in 1861 in Longford, Derbyshire and died on 9 Jun 1943 in Dunedin Bath Road, Reading, Berks..)
