bullet  General Notes:

Thomas Corfield became Captain, 1st Regiment of Foot Guards and fought at the battle of Waterloo. In the closing stages of the battle, Napoleon ordered his Imperial Guard to attack the British lines. Both the Chasseurs and the Grenadiers advanced on the British. Wellington had secreted the 1st Foot Guards over a rise in the ground ahead of the advance. They waited until the French were within 20 yards of the ridge before they appeared, fired one volley and then charged and routed the French. As a result of this spectacular victory the 1st Foot Guards were renamed the Grenadier Guards.
After the Napoleonic War, Thomas became Captain and Adjutant, Royal Cornish Militia.
His sword was in the possession of his son T.J.T.Corfield as were his army commissions signed by H.M.
George III.
