Sir Kenneth Corfield attended the South Staffordshire College of Advanced Technology and worked in management developement
in ICI Metals division from 1946 - 1950.
He lived in Cheadle, Cheshire for a while and then in Claygate, Surrey. From 1950 to 1960 Kenneth and his brother John established and
then ran K G Corfield Ltd. which manufactured the "Periflex" camera in the Birmingham area. They also imported Exacta Varex and Minox
cameras from East Germany.
Due to under financing and high manufacturing cost together with the rise of the Japanese camera industry the company sought financial
backing from Arthur Guinness, the brewers.
The company was transferred to Balleymoney in Northern Ireland where it operated for the next ten years. Owing to business difficulties the camera production was closed in 1963 with the factory continuing to operate.
Kenneth returned to England and was executive director of Parkinson Cowan from 1960-1966; joining Standard Telephone cand Cables
Ltd. (STC) and serving as Deputy Chairman and Managing Director from 1969 until 1979.
He served as Chairman of the EDC for Ferrous Industries from 1975 to 1978.
He was knighted in 1980.
