General Notes:
Barbara went to Francis Holland School, London and won the Gold Medal of the Poetry Society there. She lived at Aubrey Lodge, Aubrey Road, Camden Hill in 1935 and served in the Auxiliary Territorial Service as Staff Officer in the War Office in 1942 and at Army Field HQ, North Africa & Italy, 1943 to 1945. Hereward and Barbara lived at Foxhole Farm, Wadhurst, Sussex moving to 'Escombe', Ickham, Kent in 1968. Her interests throughout her life were music, antiques and gardening.
Barbara married Hereward Stanley SWALLOW, son of Frederick Charles SWALLOW and Margaret Hurn STANLEY, on 14 May 1945 in Naples, Italy. (Hereward Stanley SWALLOW died on 27 Jan 1986 in Brickhill House, North Oakley, Hants.)
