General Notes:
LIke his father before him, Christopher Caruthers Corfield trained at St Bartholomews Hospital getting his M.R.C.S. Eng. and L.R.C.P. in 1940. He obtained a commission in the army 10th April 1941 becoming a Captain a year later and retiring as a Major, 13th June 1946. During the War he served in India and Ceylon 1942-44 (RMO 115 Field Regiment RA 1942-43) the Maldive Islands 1944-45; and India 1945. He also served in North Africa in the 6th Field Ambulance, 1948-53. Christopher worked with the Territorial Army becoming a T/Lieut-Colonel in 1952. Lieut-Colonel in the RAMC, 26th July 1959 and Colonel 10th April 1964. during this time he was posted to the Eastern Command, Belgium, and to the British Army on the Rhine. Christopher retired as Colonel, 10th April 1964 when he was working at the British Military Hospital, Kamunting from where he was posted briefly to Singapore. During his career he had been awarded the 1939-45 Star, Burma Star, Defence Medal andWar Medal.
