William Corfield attended Oswestry Grammar School. He then went to Christ's College Cambridge, 8th August 1881 gaining a BA in 1885 (MA in 1889). He was ordained Deacon in 1886, becoming a Curate at Ault Hucknall, Derbyshire and Priest at Southwell, Nottinghamshire in 1887. William was the Curate of Long Melford, Suggolk 1889-1892, Curate of Walsall, Staffordshire 1892-93; Vicar of Penkridge, 1893-1911Perpetual Curate of St Paul's, Crewe, Cheshire 1911-1916; and Vicar of Great Barrnear Birmingham 1916-1926.
