General Notes:
Richard Corfield went to Clare College, Cambridge, being admitted on 26th October 1797. He gained hi BA in 1802 and his MA in 1806. He was ordained deacon in 1803, became Curate at Hopesay, and was at St Chad's, Shrewsbury in 1804. He was sworn a burgess 1st October 1805, and became a priest at Lichfield in 1807.Curate of St James, Colchester; at Pitchford 24th July 1809-1812 after the death of the incumbent. Living at Rectory Farm, which was rebuilt in about 1803 and demolished in the 1960s, Richard ran a school there "where he went broke from outliving himself". He was also Rector of Waters Upton from 1822-65; Mayor of Shrewsbury in 1826; Prebendary of Lichfield; and also licenced marriages in Acton Burnell. He became a trustee of the estate of Rev Arthur Charles Verelst, Vicar of Withycombe, Somerset who died in 1843. He wrote sermons, that were later published and was also a subscriber to S Lewis' "Topographical Dictionary of England" in 1831.
