John Wilde was stabbed while leaving court by a man he had imprisoned early in his capacity as JP. He died four days later. He left an extensive estate.
His will was dated 12th December 1828 with a codicil dated 1st May 1829 was proven in Canterbury in 1830.

John married Mary CORFIELD, daughter of William CORFIELD and Sarah PHILLIPS, on 18 Feb 1796 in St Chads, Shrewsbury. (Mary CORFIELD was born on 4 Jul 1776 and was christened on 12 Jul 1776 in St Chads, Shrewsbury.)
