Richard Corfield was educated at Croxton Preparatory School, Hesketh Park, Southport and then from September 1924 until July 1929 at Malvern College, Worcestershire; No. 4 House, where he became a House Prefect.
He then attended Pembroke College Cambridge where he obtained his BA on 29th September 1932, his LLB on 10th July 1933, and his MA 22nd February 1936.
He was junior partner in Mayo Elder and Co. (Solicitors), 10 Drapers Gardens, Throgmorton Avenue, EC2 from October 1937 until 1941. During this time he lived firstly in Pembridge Square in London and then at the Chalfont Park Hotel in Gerrards Cross. After his father's death in 1939 he lived with his mother and sister for a short time at Winoma, Orchehill Avenue, Gerrards Cross until he was called up.
In 1941 he was conscripted into the army (The Royal Pioneer Corps) as a private, he was demobilised in 1946 with the rank of Captain. He ended the war at 210 Officer Cadet Training Unit in Beckingham, Lincolnshire, teaching army law to prospective officers.
While he was stationed at Beckingham he met Margaret Browne who he married at the war's end.
After the war he moved with his new wife and daughter to London and lived at 46 Dukes Avenue, London N10 and became a Senior Partner in Hunters (Solicitors), 9 New Square, Lincolns Inn. In 1956 he moved to Albion Lodge, Fortis Green, London N2 9EP where he lived until his death.
Due to ill health ( he had high blood pressure and angina) when he was in his late fifties, he was advised to change jobs and took the position of Managing Director of Macdonald Buchanan Trustees Ltd., 73 Basinghall Street, London EC2 where he worked until his death.
His estate was valued at £150,901
