Roger Chirchman CORFIELD ¹

  General Notes:

Roger Corfield was educated firstly at Norfolk House Preparatory School, Muswell Avenue, Muswell Hill, London. When he was ten years old he was moved to Beaufort Lodge Preparatory School, Somerset Road, New Barnet.
From 1963 to 1967 he was educated at Malvern College, Worcestershire; No. 4 House.
In 1969 he joined Athel Line, a subsiduary of Tate & Lyle, as a Deck Officer Apprentice. In 1971 he was promoted to 3rd Officer. On 7th February 1975 he obtained his 2nd Mate, Foreign Going Certificate.
On 6th June 1975 he joined Blue Star Line and on 19th July 1977 he obtained his 1st Mates, Foreign Going Certificate. On 4th March 1982 he obtained his Master's Foreign Going Certificate.
In 1982 he left Blue Star Line and worked on a variety of vessels for several companies, including as a relief officer for Townsend Thoresen Ferries during the Falklands War, relieving those who had gone to the Falklands.
In 1991 he joined Stena Line working on the Harwich to Hook of Holland route being promoted to Master (Captain) in 2003.

Roger married Janice Stephanie BANKS, daughter of Wilfred Henry BANKS and Stephanie Kathleen SCOTT, on 5 Jun 1976 in St Brides, Fleet Street, London. (Janice Stephanie BANKS was born on 9 Aug 1949 in Christchurch, New Zealand.)
